This site is your primary resource for information on scholarships. Institutional academic scholarships are merit-based, requiring that students earn certain grade point averages and/or scores on the SAT or ACT to qualify. Selection is based on the applicant's high school academic achievement, test scores, leadership and community service.
Winston-Salem State University has competitive scholarships available on both a merit and need basis. These scholarships are available to new, first-time freshman through the Admissions Office. Departmental competitive scholarships for junior-level students are also available. Priority will be given to students accepted by November 30th of their senior year. Qualifying students applying after the priority date will continue to be considered as long as funds are available. Generally, scholarship awards are made in March.
The merit-based scholarships do not require a separate scholarship application; submitting a completed application for admission automatically qualifies applicants for consideration.
