WSSU Technology Requirement Initiative

Entering freshmen are now required to enter the university with specific technology components to keep pace with university technology services and the digital technology movement.  The estimated cost of attending WSSU for freshmen will increase by no more that $1,500 during their first year at the university.  Financial Aid budgets will be increased by this amount to help cover these technology costs.  It is our goal to develop a requirement that will deliver the most flexible technology into the hands of our students, yet will serve them throughout their entire student experience.  The university has invested in many new technologies to ensure the success of our technology requirement.

Winston-Salem State University has partnered with Dell to provide technology components and services for our students.  The configurations provided by Dell are pre-tested and approved for student use and will provide seamless connectivity to the university network and access to electronic resources.  Please continue to review  this site for information regarding the WSSU-TRI.

Although students are not required to purchase their computers from Dell, there are many advantages in participating with the Dell purchase plan. The Support Desk will provide direct support on models purchased with Dell, as well as maintaining some loaner systems. If you should decide to purchase another brand of computer, or bring your existing computer to campus, please ensure that these systems meet our minimum requirements. Computers that do not meet our minimum specifications will not be connected to the university network. Also note that the Support Desk will not provide repair service on these systems.
