Summary: The Campus Police Department at WSSU is inviting public comment as it seeks accreditation of its ability to meet professional standards.
The Campus Police Department at Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) is seeking accreditation of its ability to meet professional standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.
As part of an on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session on Monday, August 26, at 7:00 p.m. in room 207 of the University's Thompson Center. Individuals may also provide comments to the assessment team by telephone on August 26 by calling 336-750-2904 between 1 and 4 p.m. Remarks will be limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency's ability to maintain compliance with the accrediting organization's standards and a copy of those standards is available in the main lobby of the Old Maintenance Building on the university campus.
Written comments will also be accepted by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. at 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320 Gainesville, Virginia 20155
Once the Commission's assessors complete their review of the Police Department, they will report back to the full Commission, which will then decide if the department is to be granted accredited status.
The contact person for the Winston-Salem State University Campus Police Department is Captain Bobby Brown, accreditation manager, 336-750-2918.
