
WSSU Receives $120,000 Grant for Scholarships

Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) has received a $120,000 grant from the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation to be used for general scholarships during the upcoming 2011-2012 academic year.“We are extremely pleased that the Foundation has continued to provide financial support for our students,” said Michelle Cook, vice chancellor for University Advancement at WSSU. “Our relationship with the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation is longstanding and has resulted in more than $1.3 million in need-based scholarship awards to deserving WSSU students. We are very grateful for the Foundation’s commitment to the success of our students.”
The Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation is based in Atlanta and devotes most of its resources to annual scholarship grants in the southeast. These scholarships are awarded at more than 200 institutions of higher education and provide financial assistance to thousands of women.
