Brown to Serve as NCAA Division II Faculty Athletics Representative
Dr. Cynthia Williams Brown from Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) has been selected as one of the NCAA Division II Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) Fellows for 2012.
Brown, associate professor of physical education and chair of the Department of Human Performance and Sports Sciences, has served as the faculty athletics representative for WSSU since 2005. Each NCAA institution has a FAR, who serves as the liaison between the faculty and athletics.
As a FAR Fellow, Brown will represent WSSU and the CIAA conference at the 7th NCAA Division II Far Fellows Institute in Indianapolis in October. The Institute provides an intense developmental opportunity for a core group of FARs to enhance their abilities to perform the critical functions of a Division II faculty athletics representative. The Institute also works to refine the roles of the FAR on the campus, conference and national level, as well as develop tools and best practices for those filling that role.
