Program Description
Winston-Salem State University Birth to Kindergarten Education (BKE) graduates are able to design and implement developmentally appropriate instruction and learning environments for all children zero to eight, provide program leadership, and work with families.
Curriculum
The BKE program is a 120 semester hour undergraduate initial teacher licensure program. The Early Intervention and Preschool concentration is considered an online concentration; ninety-nine percent of the courses are offered online.
Career opportunities
BKE majors often enter careers as teachers of young children in public and private schools, preschool classrooms such as Head Start, North Carolina's NC Pre-K classrooms, early childhood centers and numerous other programs and agencies serving young children and families. Graduates are also prepared to enter related graduate programs of study, such as early childhood education, social work, and child and family studies. "
