Rickford GrantRickford serves two groups of students here in the office: WSSU students planning and preparing to study abroad and International students coming from abroad to study here at WSSU.  He has worked in the field of international education most his life, including his days teaching ESL in Los Angeles and later here with the Guilford County Schools. He also worked for over 17 years in Japan as an international student and study abroad advisor at colleges and universities in Osaka and Toyama.  Rickford also has some study abroad experience of his own, having participated in programs in Passau, Germany, and Taipei, Taiwan. He also likes to travel, and has been, either on business or for pleasure, to many different locations around the globe, including his most recent trip to the former Yugoslavia, where he visited the village in which his grandfather was born. Someday, he would also like to fulfill his childhood dream of visiting Iceland. In
addition to travel, Rickford loves cats, bettas, Thai food, and shoegaze music.

Deana Brim
Deana Brim has worked in International Programs since 2007. She assists with housing, insurance, scholarships for study abroad, and any other issues that need...assistance. She is also the advisor for two student organizations affiliated with OIP: Student International Association, which all International students are a part of, and the Ralph Bunche Society, an organization focused on leadership and global awareness. Married with two children, most of Deana's time is filled with transporting her kids to different functions, but when she does have spare time, she enjoys reading, laughing until she can't catch her breath, and traveling.  Deana has traveled to Ghana, Africa and the Caribbean including Puerto Rico. She dreams of going to Ireland, and Mellweg, Austria, to sing on the mountain where Julie Andrews sang in the movie "The Sound of Music," one of
Deana's favorites.
