Research Initiation Program (RIP)
Request for Proposals (RFP)
Tenured and tenure-track faculty investigators at WSSU are invited to submit proposals requesting up to $10,000 for up to 12 months to generate feasibility studies or other preliminary data. This support is intended to (1) help promising new faculty and faculty new to research to initiate their research, (2) provide seed funding to test new ideas in their preliminary stages in order to collect data for proposals for external funding, and (3) provide modest resources for scholarly work in disciplines in which external support is quite limited, but with the expectation that a proposal for external funding will be submitted.
RIP leverages external funds by supporting promising new faculty and funding high-quality new initiatives of senior faculty. The primary goal will be to increase and/or enhance scholarly productivity—including presentations at conferences and scientific meetings, publication of scholarly articles and books, and other academic or creative works, all of which are activities evaluated during the promotion and tenure review process.
Submit proposals to The Office of Sponsored Programs via RAMSeS (Research Administration Management System and electronic Submission), by April 1, 2015.
