Advances
The mission of the Division of University Advancement is to develop and nourish financial, political, and public support for Winston-Salem State University. Additionally, the division manages the collection, investment, and distribution of private gifts; integrates marketing and communication efforts campus-wide, develops and sustains a strong volunteer leadership network and maintains effective alumni and development databases. The WSSU Foundation is also closely aligned with the Advancement Division-and is led by an Executive Director. The Vice Chancellor for University Advancement also serves as Vice Chair for Operations for the WSSU Foundation.
The Division of University Advancement includes four major programs reporting to the vice chancellor for University Advancement. These programs include the Annual Fund, Alumni Relations, Development, and Marketing and Communications.
As stated in the WSSU Strategic Plan, one of the key goals for the Division is to "establish an institutional brand that is broadly understood and embraced and to develop a marketing strategy that supports the university's fundraising efforts." Key to all of the above is effective and consistent communication with our many constituents. This website has been developed and enhanced to do just that. We invite all of our alumni and friends to visit the website often and to send us your comments, questions and suggestions. You may also wish to send a donation to help us to continue to build on the success that we have achieved in the areas of enrollment growth, facilities enhancement, community outreach, economic development and in providing scholarship support for top students.
