In May 2008, the S.G. Atkins CDC retained Brailsford & Dunlavey to guide Winston-Salem State University, Winston-Salem city officials, and the neighboring community in forming a master plan for the MLK Corridor. The CDC prioritized the development of the areas on the edge of the Winston-Salem State University campus to advance the economic viability of the surrounding communities while continuing to support the University ‘s progress.
