Greetings:
The College of Arts and Sciences Awards was established in 2008 to recognize students for outstanding achievements in Academics, Research, and Service. Because we also know that students excel at different points in their college career, the College established an award to recognize students who over time have improved significantly in their academic performance. Students in this category can be nominated or selected from the spectrum of grade point averages.
Each year the College Awards Committee receives numerous nominations for all of the awards. It has been a joy to hear the stories of the caliber of each award recipients, testament to the dedication of our faculty and students.
To allow for continuity from one year to the next, the CAS Awards Committee has two co-chairs, both of whom serve in that capacity for two years although one of co-chairs rolls off each year.
I take this opportunity to thank the College's faculty and staff, members of the CAS Awards Committee, and award recipients for making each ceremony a success. I also want to encourage all CAS students to prepare themselves to be award winners.
Sincerely,
Charles Wesley Ford, Jr., Ph.D.
Dean
