Located in historic Carolina Hall, the Department of Mathematics at Winston Salem State University has a dynamic group of students, faculty, and staff dedicated to learning, teaching, and advancing mathematics.  The Department believes strongly in the individual worth of every student, thus the first priority of the faculty is to deliver high quality instruction to the students, in every course, every day in a student centered environment.  The faculty is also a diverse group of respected and active scholars in the field.

There are two pathways offered, traditional mathematics or mathematics with a concentration in statistics. Courses leading to licensure in secondary education in mathematics are offered through the education department. WSSU's program blends interrelated but distinctive aspects of mathematics: theoretical ideas and methods, modeling real-world situations, the statistical analysis of data, and scientific computing. The curriculum is designed to develop competence in each of these aspects of mathematics in a way that responds to the interests and needs of individual students as well as link them to the 21st century world they will face after graduation.

This is an exciting time to study mathematics at Winston Salem State University.
