Dr. James E. Armstrong, Jr.
Associate Director of Bands/ Instructor of Music
James Armstrong holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Winston-Salem State University, a Master of Music Education degree from Jackson State University, and the Doctor of Musical Arts in Trumpet Performance from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Dr. Armstrong has taught instrumental and general music in North Carolina public schools as well as serving as Graduate Assistant teaching applied trumpet while attending Jackson State University. He is active in the MENC: National Association for Music Education, International Association of Jazz Educators and the North Carolina Music Educators Association. Dr. Armstrong’s teaching responsibilities in the Music department involve teaching Applied Trumpet and French horn, Music Theory, assisting with the marching band and Jazz Ensemble II, and conducting the Brass Ensemble.
