Biography

Dr. Leslie Weisenfeld is the Sara Lee Professor of Accounting at Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) and has been with WSSU since 1993.  She received her PhD in Accounting from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1987 and has been a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) since 1983.  Leslie has published articles in Accounting, Organizations and Society, Journal of Management Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting Education, Advances in Management Accounting, Review of Business Information Systems, Advances in Accountability: Regulation, Gender, and Justice, Management Accounting, National Public Accountant, Accounting and the Public Interest, and Industrial Management.  She has presented papers at both Annual and Regional Meetings of the American Accounting Association, the American Society of Business and Behavioral Sciences Conference, Decision Sciences Institute Annual Meeting, Accounting Education Forum, UNC CAUSE, International Conference on New Directions in the Humanities, and the Interdisciplinary Perspectives in Accounting Conference.  Leslie has been a reviewer for Accounting Enquiries - A Research Journal, International Journal of Humanities, and Advances in Public Interest Accounting, and received the 2001 National Achievement Award in Education from the National Association of Black Accountants, the 2002 Best Manuscript Award in Teaching and Curriculum at the American Accounting Association's Southeast Region Meeting, jointly the 2004 Outstanding Scholarship Award for the Advancement of Diversity in Accounting from the Diversity Section of the American Accounting Association.   She also served as the 2001-2002 editor for the American Accounting Association's Gender Issues Newsletter.
