All WSSU programs have been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern States. The Commission's mission is the enhancement of educational quality throughout the region and it strives to improve the effectiveness of institutions by ensuring that institutions meet standards established by the higher education community that address the needs of society and students. SACS serves as the common denominator of shared values and practices among the diverse institutions in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Latin America and other international sites approved by the Commission on Colleges that award associate, baccalaureate, master's, or doctoral degrees.
The School of Business and Economics at Winston-Salem State University is also accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Earning AACSB International accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools. As of April 2008, only 555 member institutions (worldwide) hold AACSB business accreditation.
In addition, the MHA program is being reviewed for accreditation by the Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME). CAHME is the primary accrediting agency for graduate programs in healthcare management in the United States and Canada.
