NO CAMP SESSION WILL BE HELD DURING SUMMER 2012. PLEASE CHECK BACK NEXT SUMMER!
The Youth Exploring Health Sciences (CAMP YEHS!) program at Winston-Salem State University is a two-week residential experience that focuses on teaching scientific skills necessary for careers in nursing and other health science professions, and to increase education and awareness of health disparities among the populations being served. The program is designed to address the shortage of racial/ethnic minorities and males by participation in educational programs, including nursing exploration, hands-on activities, hospital visits, health issues research, problem-based learning, academic enrichment, and health promotion, which will give students a competitive edge for successfully matriculating through college. Rising 9th grade students within North Carolina will be provided room and board, instructional materials, and access to various research facilities and biomedical institutions both on the campus of Winston-Salem State University and other facilities within Forsyth County and the surrounding areas.
