The Office of Integrated Marketing Communications team is an enthusiastic group of ambassadors for Winston-Salem State University and its brand. Collaborating with partners across campus, we build awareness and increase support for WSSU. The university's marketing communications programs are designed to strengthen the university’s visibility and brand to both external and internal constituents.
IMC's marketing and communications professionals bring to WSSU extensive experience in higher education, the private sector, non-profit organizations, and print and broadcast media. With our strong and varied backgrounds, we build teams able to assist you in meeting your unique marketing communications goals while integrating the overall marketing strategy of the university.

IMC is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the university's brand and championing its growth and significance among key constituencies. IMC works to position WSSU for greater visibility through various marketing and communications platforms. Consistent branding goes beyond making the university’s materials more readily recognizable. By communicating in a consistent, compelling manner, we can move potential students, faculty, alumni, business leaders and donors to understand, admire, and participate in the Winston-Salem State University experience.
Announcements are sent as a compiled email by Integrated Marketing Communications on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the academic year and Wednesdays during breaks and summer. Your submission must be received no later than noon one business day before it is to be sent. All announcements will be e-mailed in plain text format to ensure accessibility for individuals with visual impairments. No attachments can be sent. Announcements must pertain to official university business or to university-sponsored activities for faculty and staff or for the entire university community.
IMC provides the university community with consistently high-quality materials, from brochures, booklets, magazines and postcards to banners, invitations, presentation posters, newsletters, advertisements and programs. Consultations related to design and production can be scheduled upon request.
IMC works to develop relationships with the media to garner interest in telling the Winston-Salem State University story. We follow national news trends and proactively position faculty and staff as experts for both local and national media. We work with departments across campus to develop strategies to communicate Winston-Salem State University’s successes, highlight its programs, and demonstrate the impact it has on the community. By creating accurate, timely and authentic communications, we inspire engagement, foster community and build awareness for WSSU’s distinctive vision and value. IMC also supports the university community in publicizing WSSU events, programs and strategies among faculty, staff and other internal audiences.
The University Photographer is responsible for supplying images that help tell WSSU's story in a professional manner. Services range from photojournalism to studio portraiture, all designed to support the University's five strategic goals and objectives. More about photography services.
IMC can assist with your marketing and promotional videography needs. IMC-produced videos are typically 1-3 minutes in length used for student recruitment, promotion, and other outreach purposes. IMC does not film guest speakers, classes, or other long-format productions.
IMC provides leadership and strategic direction in the use of digital tools such as web pages, social media channels, emails, online advertising, and other emerging technologies. We are able to provide assistance with digital strategy, search engine optimizations and analytics, digital content development and integration, social media management, email marketing, and online advertising. IMC creates concise, high-quality content for internal and external brochures, booklets, flyers, manuals, pamphlets, posters and ads, along with content for the university website. Working closely with the Design & Production team and with staff members in media relations, recruitment and enrollment services and other internal clients, the department writes, edits and proofs copy for campus clients upon request.
