University Group Policy #600.1
Winston-Salem State University will permit the use of “open flames” for the expressed purpose of cooking appropriate food items consistent with established university policies, procedures and state laws.
All student organizations and/or departments wishing to conduct activities involving the use of “open- flames” on University property must obtain a burn permit and appropriate approval for use of campus space prior to the event from the Office of Student Activities. All grills must be on cement surfaces, and are not permitted on grass, under tents or against buildings at all times. Organizations are prohibited from selling food or receiving donations for food at any time.
This policy is applicable to the faculty, staff and students of Winston-Salem State University.
Failure to adhere to this policy and its procedures may result in disciplinary action, up to and including suspension.
