Faculty Research Enhancement

Faculty Research Enhancement

Scholarly activity and the pursuit of an intellectual life of the mind are top priorities of the TSI. Faculty that involve undergraduates in high-quality, productive original research activities are essential “change agents.”

Through Faculty Research Enhancement (FRE), the TSI seeks to assist WSSU science faculty in their professional (discipline-specific) endeavors by facilitating the development of collaborative research projects. In a time of declining resources, this will allow us to leverage our collective equipment, supplies, and personnel in order to enhance the strength of our university assets and position us well for external funding. In the near future, the TSI will create, in collaboration with our IT colleagues, a faculty research expertise database and begin conducting one-on-one faculty consultations.

In partnership with CETL, the TSI will also organize and host faculty-learning communities – especially geared toward our pre-tenured faculty  – that are focused on initiating and sustaining successful research programs with undergraduate students within the context of a primarily undergraduate institution.

The FRE website will post information regarding research grant opportunities as a means of helping our faculty realize their intellectual objectives. This list will be updated periodically. So, please check back frequently.
