Face coverings are required for all students, faculty, staff, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and visitors in classrooms, meeting rooms, hallways, elevators, public spaces, and common areas as well as in any WSSU building. Face coverings must also be worn in office spaces and outdoor spaces where physical distancing is difficult to maintain. Wearing a face covering is not required when alone in a personal office or in individual residence hall room.

Regularly practice the "3 Ws" as articulated by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services:

  • WEAR a face covering.
  • WAIT at least six feet apart from other people to avoid close contact.
  • WASH hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.

Each member of the campus community should conduct a self-assessment daily for any signs of illness or COVID-19 symptoms PRIOR to coming to campus.

COVID-19 is a serious illness. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please follow the 6 steps below.

  • Fever/chills
  • Cough
  • Diarrhea
  • Sore throat
  • Shortness of breath
  • Body or muscle aches
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Congestion/runny nose
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Headache

Students that are awaiting test results or have tested positive for COVID-19 must isolate at home. Students with extenuating circumstances, or are too ill to travel, will be housed locally. Provisions will be made for essential services. Students may return to campus once they have fully recovered, and no longer pose a threat for transmission.
