Rams give back at Virginia elementary school

Winston-Salem State Rams football players aren’t just winning on the field, they’re also giving back.

The team, winners of the CIAA North Division, spent the morning meeting with children at Westside Elementary School in Roanoke, Virginia. The community service event was part of CIAA football championship weekend.

For the first time, the CIAA championship is being played in the Roanoke Valley. WSSU takes on Bowie State on Saturday at Salem Stadium.

The Winston-Salem State University Powerhouse of Red and White Cheerleaders will perform with the Carolina Panthers’ TopCats during this Sunday’s matchup when the Panthers take on the Atlanta Falcons. Game time is at 1 p.m. at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

Alumnus Oscar Ball III giving back one game at a time

Oscar Ball III, Winston-Salem State University Class of 2009, is the creator of the 4th Quarter Scholarship Fundraiser. The event is a basketball game between current WSSU students and alumni and is held on the Sunday after each homecoming at the C.E. Gaines Center.

VIRGINIA UNION UNIVERSITY AND WINSTON-SALEM STATE UNIVERSITY TO PLAY IN 2024 NBA HBCU CLASSIC PRESENTED BY ATT ON FEB. 17

The NBA today announced that the Virginia Union University Panthers (VUU) and Winston-Salem State University Rams (WSSU) men's basketball programs have been selected to compete in the 2024 NBA HBCU Classic presented by ATT.
