WSSU bids farewell to 8 retiring faculty members

With the close of the 2016-17 academic year, Winston-Salem State University is bidding farewell to eight retiring faculty members with a combined 180 years of service to the university.

Retiring faculty from the College of Arts, Sciences, Business, and Education are:

  • Dr. Sylvia Bembry, professor, Department of Management Information Systems - 28 years
  • Dr. Morris Clarke, associate professor, Life Sciences - 19 years
  • Dr. Elwanda Ingram, professor, Department of English - 36 years
  • Dr. Ronald Patterson, professor, Department of Mathematics - 11 years
  • Dr. Mansour Samimi, professor, Department of Mathematics - 34 years
  • Dr. Claudia Warren, professor, Department of Education - 28 years

 Retiring faculty from the School of Health Sciences are:

  • Dr. Robert Cowie, professor, Department of Physical Therapy - 16 years
  • Dr. George Harwell, chair and associate professor, Clinical Laboratory Science - 8 years

The faculty were recognized at the Faculty Awards Brunch on May 12.
