Dr. Jerrell W. Robinson selected as Associate Dean of New Student Experiences and Undergraduate Engaged Learning in University College

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jerrell W. Robinson, who has been selected to serve as the Associate Dean of New Student Experiences and Undergraduate Engaged Learning in University College, effective August 1, 2023, after a national search. In this role, Dr. Robinson will serve as a member of the University College’s Leadership team to support an institution-wide framework for student success that enhances curricular and co-curricular programs through high-impact educational experiences. Dr. Robinson will work with faculty, staff and students to provide vision and leadership for an integrated set of units, including Academic Student services (i.e., New Student Orientation and Programming, the First Year Experience, the Sophomore Year Experience, the Transfer and Adult Learner Experience), the Simon Green Atkins Honors Program, the Office of International Programs, and the Office of Undergraduate Research.

Dr. Robinson joins Winston-Salem State University from SUNY Old Westbury where he served as director of the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP). He has served as the Associate Dean of Student Development and Campus Life, Director of First Year Programs, and Senior Director of Health and Wellness Services, and has developed first year course curricula and taught first year seminar courses. Dr. Robinson is dedicated to supporting student success through faculty and staff collaborations aimed at establishing and offering innovative programs and services.

Dr. Robinson’s career spans nearly thirty years in higher education serving in academic affairs and student affairs roles with extensive experience leading enrollment services, first year and new student services, academic advising and student support services, student activities and leadership development, opportunity programs, mentoring programs, and strategic planning focused on improving student retention, persistence, and completion rates.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. on April 17 at the Benton Convention Center in downtown Winston-Salem. It is free to attend; however, tickets are required.
