WSSU joins United Nations' global sustainability network

Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) has announced its acceptance into the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), a prestigious global initiative dedicated to advancing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Dr. Nikolaos Karagiannis, professor of economics, and Dr. Shawn Holt, associate provost for research and innovation, directed the effort that led to this achievement.

Launched by the United Nations in 2012, the SDSN mobilizes scientific, technological and financial expertise from more than 1,900 member institutions, including universities, think tanks, businesses and governments, to accelerate progress toward solving the world’s most pressing challenges.

Membership in this dynamic network places WSSU among a global community committed to research, education, policy innovation and practical solutions for sustainable development.
