Mission

CADS mission is to (1) create a robust ecosystem involving multiple stakeholders capable of enhancing institutional capacity in the area of data science (2) make transformative changes by fostering interdisciplinary research, education, and outreach activities in data science (3) study issues related to the diversity and inclusion in the area of data sciences, and provide a set of recommendations to address these issues. Further, CADS will contribute to creating a diverse and skilled workforce, capable of exploiting the capacities of data science to serve national interests.

Vision

To identify and to overcome a variety of barriers to the broad and sustainable adoption of data-intensive research and education and build a reproducible model for enhancing inclusion and diversity in data science research and education.

Goals

  1. Create an ecosystem and a robust community at WSSU involving multiple stakeholders capable of enhancing institutional capacity in the area of DS for making transformative changes.
  2. Foster interdisciplinary research, education and outreach activities in DS.
  3. Study the issues related to the diversity and inclusion in the area of DS, establish a model approach and a set of recommendations to address them, and contribute in creating a diverse group of skilled workforce that is capable of fully exploiting the capacities of DS, in service of the national interests.
