UNC Global: South Asia
Resources at UNC-Chapel Hill include three National Resource Centers whose scope includes South Asia: the Carolina Asia Center, the Carolina Center for the Study of the Middle East and Muslim Civilizations, and the Center for Global Initiatives. Several departments offer programs and resources, and there are other initiatives on campus of interest to students and professionals in business and health.

Select institutions of higher education receive Title VI funds from the US Department of Education for NRC or FLAS. The NRC Program provides grants to institutions that, as part of their mission, serve as national resources on the world area of their focus, both on campus and beyond. The general public will find especially useful the resources online or those that can be ordered from the centers. Visit the NRC's Web site and follow links for "Outreach," "Resources," "Publications,” or "Teachers.” The FLAS Program provides funds to institutions to award academic year and summer FLAS Fellowships to competitive undergraduate and graduate students to study less commonly taught foreign languages and related area or international studies.
