Programs

CITI will offer workshops for instructional staff throughout the year.  Following is a list of the types of workshops we offer.
Workshops

  • New faculty symposium - new faculty will meet twice a month throughout the first year to discuss various topics pertaining to teaching in general or WSSU specifically.  Among the topics are: Expectations of your first year at WSSU, Campus Safety, Active learning, Using technology in the classroom, teaching online, etc.
  • Reading Circles - CITI will recommend one or two books around which faculty will form small reading circles. This is a fun way to get to know your colleagues across campus while learning something new in a low-key, low-stress environment.
  • Professional Learning Communities - PLCs are formed around hot topics or high interest areas. A PLC meets every 2 - 3 weeks for an extensive discussion on the topic, formulating a project that will be completed on campus to benefit the WSSU family.  There are a wide variety of topics around which a PLC can be formed.  Applications will be distributed to the campus community in the spring so that groups can start meeting at the start of the new academic year.
