Biography

Joseph C. Baker, Jr. (Joe) serves as the Pre-College Coordinator for the North Carolina Mathematics and Science Education Network (NC-MSEN) Program and Campus Advisor/Co-Coach for the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge (HCASC) Quiz Bowl Team at Winston-Salem State University. Joe received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) in 1997. He then went on to complete his Masters in Molecular Biology at North Carolina Central University in 2008. Prior to his employment at WSSU Mr. Baker was employed at Duke University as a Research Analyst in the Department of Medicine.  During this time, he received numerous publications in the areas of cancer research where he aided in the development of markers to better predict risk for women who are at high risk of developing breast cancer.
