Biography
As a nurse research scientist my focus is on the triadic relationship during a clinical visit between children with asthma, their caregiver and healthcare provider. My primary research are includes the overall child health outcomes specific asthma, asthma symptom management, healthcare provider's cultural competent communication skill levels, community engagement with asthma symptom management, and outcome related to self-management.
My work includes first, the development of measure, "Child illness Representation" [CIR copyright]. This measure was develop to measure the communications between child and provider [English/Spanish]. The second development is a "Chee Sleeve" prototype currently been patent. This device is to assist emergency respondents to have access to mothers & children with asthma emerency. Most recent study includes screening the challenges of peanut & other allergies in Early Head Start/Head Start programs. Also, a study of college students management of allergies while in college. Future plan work includes the community engagement in asthma symptom management.
