Biography
Thirty (30) years’ experience in Law Enforcement and (4) years’ experience in the United States Army. Assignments included Lieutenant over the Narcotics Unit of the Forsyth County Sheriff Office. During my tenure in the Narcotics division, the Unit seized over $10,154,720.03 worth of narcotics, property and U.S. Currency. The Unit arrested over 501 people with 1,530 separate charges. I have served as a Sergeant of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s in the Detective Division Supervising the case load of over 15 detectives.
Since being sworn in 1988, I have continued to work hard, attending training and gaining continuous knowledge any the various division of my assignments. I have over 2300 hours of specialized training to include Narcotics and Dangerous Drug Laws, Drug Raid Courses, Police Law Institute, receiving my Advance Law Enforcement certificate. I have completed a courses in Supervisor and Management, Gang Investigations related to schools. I have received numerous awards and certificates for outstanding performance and /or accomplishments. I currently serve as the Winston-Salem State University’s Investigator/Crime Prevention Lieutenant. I work closely with the student conduct Director as well as the Title IX Director. I assist when need with investigations with the university’s state auditors, sometimes resulting in arrest and reimbursements of property and currency.
Since July 2015 I have served Winston-Salem State University in Public Safety. I was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in charge of the campus property security officers, which at one time consisted of over 23 officers, as well as the detective of the Crime Prevention/Investigations Division.
My duties consist of, but not limited to, assisting with the patrol officers in any type of investigations, as well as providing customer service for visitors, faculty, staff and students. I also serve as the liaison for the Title IX Director and Student Conduct advisors. I also serve as a direct contact for any cases and or questions pertaining to the officers of Winston-Salem State University’s Public Safety Department. My duties range from speaking to the students and faculty about safety issues to providing assistance to the campus Threat Assessment staff. I assist with keeping all of the newly hired employee aware of what the public safety department provides them by way of customer service.
In preparation of all the duties and responsibilities that involve being a Patrol Captain, I have been assisting with the training of the officers, squad assignment as well as providing coverage on patrol due to the occasion limited officer coverage.
