Tarina A. Whitfield
Ms. Whitfield joined Winston-Salem State University in February of 2008. At that time she served as Distance Learning Coordinator and Manager of Technology in the College of Arts and Sciences. In this position she coordinated all aspects of distance learning in the college : recruiting for distance programs, advising students, course scheduling, faculty/staff training, etc. In addition to these duties Ms. Whitfield managed the personnel and budget that supported technology in the college.
In April of 2011 she was appointed to serve as Interim Director of Distance Learning for the University. In this role she served as a member of the Division of Lifelong Learning's leadership team and managed the day-to-day function of the university's distance learning programs.
In April of 2012 she joined the Office of Information Technology's Web Support Services. Ms. Whitfield currently, serves as the manager of Web Support Services, a role in which she directs the day-to-day functions of the university’s public-facing website. She works with university personnel to ensure that an appropriate website infrastructure and content is maintained; works strategically with academic and business units to maintain and expand web content; works to adhere to university and industry standards; establishes and enforces standard operating procedures in support of the website.
