Determining Eligibility by Employee Type

Employee Type Temporary Employee, Student Employee, Graduate Student, RA, or TA

Hours/Week: 1-29 hrs

These employees would be NOT ELIGIBLE for employer-provided health insurance. Other factors, such as additional or previous employment in the University or UNC System may impact this.

Position Length: > 3 mths

Hours/Week: 30+ hrs

Based on the information you provided, this employee would be ELIGIBLE for employer-provided health insurance at a cost of $117.62 per month charged to your department.

Once eligible employees are entered into the HR System, they must go to the online enrollment portal to either elect or decline health insurance.

Position Length: < 3 mths

Hours/Week: 30+ hrs

These employees would be NOT ELIGIBLE for employer-provided health insurance. Other factors, such as additional or previous employment in the University or UNC System may impact this.
