Holiday Schedule and Winter Break Calendar
The University will observe the following holiday schedule in accordance with the State Holiday Schedule for 2017-2018. Offices will be closed on the days indicated below.

^NC Gen. Stat. § 126-4(5) requires the University to note what day is observed in lieu of Veteran's Day. December 27th is assigned in lieu of observance of Veteran's Day on November 12th.
*WSSU will be closed during the Christmas/Winter Break Supplement (December 28 & 31, 2018 & January 2,3, & 4, 2019). Employees may use vacation leave, bonus leave, compensatory time or Leave without Pay (LWOP) to cover the days the University will be closed (40 hours total). An employee must exhaust all accumulated vacation/bonus leave before going on LWOP. WSSU will reopen Tuesday, January 7, 2019.
Employees will not face disciplinary action for being in Leave without Pay (LWOP) status during the
Employees who are required to work on scheduled holidays shall be given, in addition to their regular salary, premium pay equal to one-half of their regular straight time rate for hours on these days, and shall be given equivalent time off on a date approved by the department head.
Permanent part-time employees receive holidays on a prorated basis. Temporary employees are not eligible for paid holidays. Please direct any questions you may have regarding holiday leave to Camilla Norris or Keyona McNeill, Department of HR.
