Faculty & Staff Tuition Waiver

The purpose of the Tuition Waiver Program is to provide an opportunity for an eligible employee to have the tuition waived for a course taken at any of the constituent institutions of The University of North Carolina System. Participation is voluntary and courses may be taken for career development or for personal interest.

Program Details

Tuition charges will be waived for up to three courses per academic year regular undergraduate- and graduate-level courses, online courses, self-paced courses, and independent study courses.

Tuition may be waived for more than one course in the same academic term and the program is available to all permanent employees. (The academic year begins with the fall term and ends with the summer sessions.)

In order to participate, an employee must maintain permanent employment status at 75% time (30 hours per work week) or more for the entire semester during which the course is taken. How to Apply for a Faculty and Staff Tuition Waiver

The completed Faculty and Staff Tuition Waiver form must be submitted to the Student Accounts and Cashiering Office on or before the last day of the Add/Drop period.

Waivers submitted after the add/drop date of the semester or term of enrollment will not be processed.

It is the faculty/staff member’s responsibility to make sure the request has been received in the Student Accounts and Cashiering Office by the designated period.
