The WSSU African and African-American Studies program is designed to provide you with an understanding of the historical, political, social, and economic conditions of African and African-descended peoples. The program offers courses in history, geography, philosophy, art, literature, music, religion, sociology, political science, psychology, and other disciplines. The emphasis of the program is on the study of the political economy of Africa and the entire African diaspora.
The program gives students an essential liberal arts education and prepares them for advanced study in graduate and professional schools and to seek careers in the fields of education, law, international relations, and politics.
