Applying for Graduate Admissions

Before You Apply

Learn about the different types of applications you can submit and identify which applies to you. Learn how to apply, deadlines, application fees, and requirements. Below are the different types of applications:

  • Degree Seeking Applicant: Any applicant for Graduate Admissions that desires to pursue a graduate degree in a specific program.
  • International Applicant: Any applicant for Graduate Admissions that does not maintain permanent US citizenship. All international applicants must submit official scores from either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The minimum score for admission is 550 for the TOEFL (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), and 6.5 for IELTS.
  • Non-Degree Seeking Applicant: Any applicant who desires to enroll in graduate courses that do not yield a graduate degree (ex: Certificate programs or Graduate courses for personal or professional enrichment.)

Accepting Your Offer of Admission

If you are admitted to a graduate program at Winston-Salem State University, you will need to return our Intent to Enroll form and complete your Health Immunization requirements before getting started.

Please note that Winston-Salem State University is an official testing site for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam. Registration for testing is now available contact Test Coordinator, Derrick Hargrove at hargovede@wssu.edu.

WSSU is an official site for the TOEFL exam. If you would like to register to take the exam with us please make sure you choose Winston-Salem State University as your test center when you register via the web. Dates for local testing are posted via the register via the web link below.
