Start An Organization

Registration of Student Organization

Each semester anyone who wants to start a student organization is required to register within RAMSync. It is a very easy process to do if you just follow a few steps and guidelines.

You will be required to have the following:

Step #1 – Search for a WSSU faculty or staff member who is willing to serve as an advisor to your organization. This person must be a full-time or part-time staff member (If staff is part-time, they must be accompanied by a full-time faculty or Staff person) or full-time faculty ONLY; no adjunct faculty. Please have their full name, email address, phone number, and physical location on campus.

Step #2 - You will need to complete a constitution; include by-laws if necessary. Sample Constitution

Step #3 – Select officers for your organization. You must have 7 members to start your organization unless approved by the Coordinator of Student Organizations. Each officer must be in good academic and conduct standing with the University. Your organization must have a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer listed or a position that is equivalent to it. You will also be required to have 2 additional members who will serve as your Student Representatives (Senators) for the Student Senate.

Step #4 – Complete the registration form in RAMSync. Click from the main WSSU page on Current Student. On the drop down click My WSSU (my.wssu.edu) Login with your RAM ID and password, scroll down on the right and click RAMSync click Browse Organizations, Click Register New Organization, Click Student Activities/Admin Group.

Before you can complete this process, you will need to make sure that you have the following items:

    1. Brief organization description inclusive of how the organization will add value to the students of Winston-Salem State University.
    2. Welcome message for your organizations portal
    3. Advisor with full name and email address and phone number
    4. Constitution (By-Laws if needed) (will need to be attached)
    5. Roster with Executive Board (will need to be attached)
Upon submission, you will then have to wait for your organization to be approved by the Coordinator for Student Organizations and Council of Presidents.

Please make sure that you alert your advisor and president to look for an email from you by way of RAMSync so that they can read and acknowledge the required policies and procedures to make sure that your organization stays in compliance.

As the advisor they will receive an email to read and acknowledge the following:
