Information Security, Compliance & Services
Information security is the practice of protecting information and information systems from unauthorized disclosure, modification, and destruction. It encompasses the safety of all IT resources, including both University information and the IT devices that access, process, store, or transmit it.
Information security is an organizational issue, not exclusively an IT problem. IT provides security to central systems and the University network. However, much of the risk to IT resources can only be managed within units' day-to-day operations. We all share responsibility for properly managing the University's IT resources, including University information and IT devices.
Units have significant autonomy to fulfill their business purposes and processes. Each unit has a responsibility to manage its security posture just like each individual has responsibility for their personal actions. Security is a balance between the need for information security and the need for information use.
All members of the WSSU community—students, faculty, and staff alike—are responsible for protecting the IT resources they use or manage. Access to the University's information, devices, and systems is a privilege, and everyone who has access has a duty to use it responsibly and by information security procedures and requirements. Bottom line: You are responsible for protecting the IT resources you use.

Technology Support Services
Your account keeps locking out because the network detects an incorrect password. When changing your password make sure that all mobile devices (laptop, tablet, smartphones) are updated as well. If you have email on them make sure that the password is updated, and if you have campus WiFi connected, that password needs to be updated as well. If you continue to have issues, you can bring your devices to the Technology Support Center and get assistance with your devices. If you do get locked out please use RAMP to reset your password.
If you have spyware or a virus on your personal PC, Technology Support Services recommends SUPERAntiSpyware to remove the infection. If that does not remove the spyware then you can do a system recovery (Tech Support Center does not do recoveries), or take it to a computer service center. (i.e.: Best Buy, Intrex, etc.)
For university-owned equipment, please submit a RAMSupport ticket or call the Technology Support Center.
Visiting the "Current Students" page, you will see these services listed under the Technology @ WSSU section.
You must confirm the “VALIDATION” of your account through Student Accounts and allow approximately two hours after confirmation for your meal plan to become active
Technology Integration Group
The Technology Integration Group (TIG) is a recently established department in the Office of Information Technology. TIG provides consulting, deployment, support, and ongoing administration of WSSU enterprise applications that, generally speaking, are not related to our Banner ERP system. Examples include: Office 365, Canvas LMS, RAMSupport ticketing system, 25Live Event Scheduling system, and many others.
The Technology Learning Center (TLC) has also been established under TIG to provide technology-related training to WSSU faculty and staff. In addition, TIG can coordinate your integration needs, such as populating data from external sources, interfacing to Banner, application authentication, etc.
Contact Application Administrative Services if your department is considering a purchase and/or deployment of a new enterprise application, or would like to discuss getting more out of your existing non-Banner applications. Also, if you have technology-related training needs, we would be happy to discuss them with you to understand and help you with your challenges.
If you are unsure whether Application Administrative Services is the right place for you contact Tarina Whitfield and she will direct you to the right resource.
