WS-SQSB Hands-on Activity
Hands-on Training Modules
Phase I : Six Training Modules
Phase II-Part 1 : Wave generator & Oscilloscope

Discover how electrical signals can create mechanical motion using piezoelectric devices. Students learn to generate and visualize waveforms while exploring the principles behind sensors, actuators, and precision positioning systems used in modern science and engineering.
Hands-on Activities
- Generate sine, square, and pulse signals using a waveform generator.
- Measure voltage, frequency, and signal characteristics with an oscilloscope.
- Investigate the piezoelectric effect and energy conversion.
- Drive piezoelectric buzzers and actuators with different waveforms.
- Observe resonance and vibration behavior in piezoelectric devices.
- Explore applications in ultrasound, precision motion control, and quantum technologies.
Phase II-Part 2 : VNA & 3D Cavity Resonators

Explore the science of microwaves and resonant cavities (Al and Cu) through hands-on measurements with a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA). Students investigate how electromagnetic waves interact with metallic cavities and learn how resonators are used in communication systems, sensors, and quantum technologies.
Hands-On Activities
- Learn the basics of microwave signals and resonance.
- Operate a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) to measure frequency response.
- Measure resonance frequencies of 3D cavity resonators.
- Compare cavity performance under different conditions.
- Observe transmission signals and resonance peaks.
- Explore how cavity size and geometry affect resonance behavior.
