What is GAP?

The Guaranteed Admission Program (GAP) is designed to strengthen the academic preparedness of students who have declared nursing as a major and are preparing to enter the traditional BSN track. GAP offers support, mentorship, and a streamlined process for eligible students to transition into the upper division of nursing.

Who Can Apply?
Students currently enrolled at Winston-Salem State University who are:

  • 2nd semester freshmen (starting Spring 2027)
  • Sophomores (2026–2027 Academic Year)

Minimum Requirements

  • 2.6-2.9 cumulative GPA
  • 2.6-2.9 science GPA
  • Enrolled in or completed College Algebra (Math 1311)
  • Good academic and conduct standing

What Are the Program Expectations?
Students admitted into GAP must:

  • Score Proficient or better on the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)
  • Complete the Summer Bridge Program
  • Maintain a minimum 2.6 cumulative GPA
  • Participate in required learning community sessions throughout the academic year
