Journal of Best Practices In Health Professions Diversity

The Journal of Best Practices in Health Professions Diversity: Research, Education and Policy (J Best Pract Health Prof Divers) published by UNC Press is an enterprise of the School of Health Sciences at Winston-Salem State University. Its mission is to provide a forum for the discussion of factors that promote or constrain the development and sustainability of a diverse health professions workforce. The journal is directed toward educators, policy makers and the health community. It is a bi-annual published source of information on maximizing recruitment and retention of a culturally diverse health professions and students in the healthcare professional areas.

Manuscripts considered for publication must explicitly adhere to issues related to diversity as well as identify the research, education, and policies that facilitate it. A combination of manuscripts from both seasoned and emerging scholars will be featured in each of the issues, which are published annually in the spring and fall.

All authors interested in submitting manuscripts are advised to review the author's guidelines prior to forwarding an article proposal. For authors interested in submitting proposals initially, must include a working title and 3-4 concise paragraphs describing the article and its relevance to health professions diversity in advance to the managing editor.

Scope of the Journal

The Journal of Best Practices in Health Professions Diversity: Research, Education and Policy (J Best Pract Health Prof Divers) is directed toward educators, policy makers and the health community. It is a bi-annual published source of information on maximizing recruitment and retention of a culturally diverse health professions and students in the healthcare professional areas. Therefore, the  J Best Pract Health Prof Divers provides a forum for the discussion of factors that promote or constrain the development and sustainability of a diverse health professions workforce. Our commitment is to publish innovative manuscripts that utilize sound scientific, evidential, theoretical or philosophical research to examine the complex issues that undergird health disparities in communities of color, the practices and policies that facilitate or hinder diversity within and across health professions.
