Campus Network Connectivity
The Office of Information Technology is pleased to announce RAMConnect. This is the new security authentication solution we are introducing to provide secure access and availability of wireless Internet access (Wi-Fi) for campus users, powered by SafeConnect. RAMConnect is part of our strategic initiative to protect computers on the WSSU network (wireless and wired) from viruses, spyware, malware, and operating system security vulnerabilities.
Due to compliance requirements, the need to improve safety measures for Wi-Fi and mobile devices, and known Internet hacking and malware threats to our campus users, this solution will be the first of a suite of technologies to protect the campus mobility infrastructure. RAMConnect will improve on the ability to connect the campus Wi-Fi securely.
Connect to the WSSU RAMGuest Network
Shortly after visitors connect their computer or device to the “RAMGuest” network, they will be asked to create and sign in with guest account credentials. Guests will not have access to University-specific resources, but will have full access to the Internet, and the traffic is not encrypted.
Connect to the WSSU RAMSecure Network
Faculty and staff should select the “RAMSecure” network from the Wi-Fi networks presented on your laptop or mobile device. Enter your WSSU Username or Email address and password. Once connected select "Connect". This action will securely connect your device to the wireless network. Beginning Friday, March 10, 2017, all WSSU faculty and staff are required to use “RamSecure” to access the Wi-Fi on campus.
Adequately protected computers and networks are reliable and provide a better, more consistent, and safer experience for the entire WSSU community.
